Bernard "Barney" Stuart Hydrick, 60, of Saint Matthews passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2020.
Barney was born in Charleston, South Carolina on December 25, 1959 and grew up roaming the woods of Dean Swamp in Springfield, South Carolina with childhood friends. He graduated top of his class at Saint Angela Academy in Aiken and continued his education at the University of South Carolina. Barney then went on to land a career in the management of the beverage and grocery industries, including Smoaks Distributing Company, Republic National Distributing Company, Amick Farms, and Piggly Wiggly. Along with his professional engagements, Barney also taught Sunday school, served on youth committees, sat on the board of Heritage Hall Academy and Andrew Jackson Academy, and always gave freely of his time and self.
Barney is remembered by family and friends for his kind and caring heart, his encouraging spirit, his quick sense of humor, his knowledge of politics and current events, and his love for Gamecock athletics. He was never at a loss for words, treated everyone as a friend, and devoted his whole soul to God's work. Barney passed away at his St. Matthews residence leaving behind his wife Angela McAlister Hydrick and granddaughter June Dianne Dickey. He will sadly be missed by his children: Christopher Stuart Hydrick, Landan Baxlee Hydrick, Thomas Stradford Hydrick, AnnaTaylor Rae (Hydrick) Greene (Jesse Greene); granddaughter: Sydney Duvall Hydrick; mother of his children: Nancy B. Hydrick; and stepson: David Kyle Dickey. He will be rejoicing with his late children: Travis Olson Hydrick and Jessica Dianna Hydrick, and late mother Jane Yon.
Barney's children wanted to celebrate his life by sharing some of his famous phrases. Landan remembers that his dad always exclaimed, "Mo, Larry, Cheeseburger", when taking pictures or "Brother Ben shot the rooster but killed the hen" when finishing a prayer. Stradford's favorite memory includes his dad's technique for meeting new people: "shake their hand, look them straight in the eye, and ask them 'how the hell are you doing?''. AnnaTaylor's most cherished words of her dad's was his life motto, "Life's pretty simple. It boils down to two things: love God and love people."
The family will host a visitation on Friday, September 4th from 3:00-4:00 pm at Northside Baptist Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina located on 1250 Columbia Road. A celebration of life service will be held following the visitation. In lieu of COVID-19, please bring a mask and practice social distancing.

Hydrick, Billy Gene "Bill," 86, retired American Airlines nondestructive testing inspector, died Monday. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday and service 10 a.m. Friday, both at Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service, Sand Springs. (Tulsa World)
-------------------
Billy Gene "Bill" Hydrick died Monday, August 6, 2012, in Tulsa, after a brief illness. Bill was born on March 4, 1926, on Ruth Street, in Sikeston, Mo, to Graham and Monra Hydrick.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edith Norene Hydrick, who he had called "Freckles" since they were in 3rd grade. He is also survived by his son David Alan and wife Mary Hydrick, daughter Kathleen Shroff, grandchildren Amy and husband Mark Davis, Carrie and husband Wade Jones, Michael Shroff, Matthew Shroff, Katie and husband Chris Ginder, and Luke Hydrick; great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Davis and Edie Lee Jones; many nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends.
His family moved to Bucoda, Mo when he was 6 years old when his father took a job to build three cotton gins in the area. He attended Bucoda Elementary School where in the 3rd grade he met a freckle faced, tow headed little girl named Norene. By 8th grade, he had decided that she was the only one for him. They were married 2 weeks after their high school graduation on June 16, 1944. Two days before his death, he stated that Freckles was the love of his life, and she was the only woman in his life "to this very day". Each month, on the 16th, he purchased a single long stemmed red rose for her.
As a junior at Senath, MO High School, he joined the Army Air Corp cadets so that he could finish high school before being drafted at age 18. He wanted to enter the Army Air Corp as an officer and a gentleman and receive pilots training. After passing a rigorous exam, he and three classmates were accepted. During high school, he played basketball and was a pole vaulter. He won 3rd in state in pole vaulting in his junior year. On August 02, 1944 Bill reported for duty as an aviation cadet trainee, at Biloxi, Miss. The war ended after a few short months, so he did not receive his pilots training. He obtained his pilot's license after his discharge on November 16, 1945. He and Edith Norene returned to Missouri and he worked on her father's farm, then they moved to Memphis so that he could attend Shelby County School of Aeronautics at Whitehaven, TN. He graduated with his mechanics license. Shortly after graduation, they moved to Tulsa where went to work at American Airlines.
He told his family that he had wanted to fly from as far back as he could remember. He loved everything about the history of aviation. Although his work was with large planes, his real love was for small planes, especially bi-planes. He helped friends build planes and often flew them until arthritis grounded them. He loved aerobatical flying. He was talking about flying in his last days. Now he is soaring in the heavens.
Bill and Edith visited Hawaii annually for many years. They loved the ocean, the beach, the mountains and the valleys. As an avid photographer, he was in his element. He has a vast collection of beautiful landscapes. He loved archery and won several competitions over the years. Photography had been another passion since childhood. He won many awards for his photography throughout out his life. He also loved to draw. In his later years, he took up the art of leatherwork. He made beautiful belts, custom holsters, wallets and photo albums. He also created pictures by "carving by hand". He won, first place at the Tulsa State Fair, in 2010, for his work.
He often told his family that he did not have material wealth, but he felt like a millionaire because of his family. He dearly loved and was devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He told his family many times that he was so proud of their accomplishments, of making it through struggles to become wonderful individuals. In return, he was dearly loved and cherished.
Funeral Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Mobley-Dodson Chapel

Billy L."Duke" Hydrick, age 90, of Aiken, S.C., son of the late Billy Louie Hydrick and the late Gladys Waller Hydrick, entered into rest at his residence on Monday, November 28, 2016.
He is survived by sons, Louie (Sherry)Hydrick and Richard (his daughter, Cheyanna) Hydrick; a daughter, Angela (Blaine)Poole; a brother, Charles Parrish; sisters, Jeanette Cain, Mary Kucera, Lucy Felberg, Nalda Hopkins and Bobbie Jean Mitchum; seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

He was born in Augusta, Ga. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from Southeastern Clay Co. as a heavy equipment operator with over 40 years of dedicated service. He was a US Army Veteran, having bravely served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an avid deer hunter. His family stated that he was a kind-hearted man who loved everybody, and would literally give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it. He was a true family man who loved his immediate family with all his heart. This was the same deep love that he had for his wife until her death last year. He will definitely be missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched during the 90 years that God granted him on this earth; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones.
The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park.

Other facts found on Billy:
1- His mother married a Mr. Parrish - where was his father?
2- Billy was found guilty of petit larceny in Oct. 1940. His brother Rudy and his mother, Gladys Parrish, were accused but found not guilty. Per an article in the Aiken Standard (newspaper) on Friday, October 11, 1940. (Was this Billy, JR or Billy SR? - although it's doubtful Sr. would have been in on a crime with his ex-wife)
3- He married Mary Scott presumably later in life
4- SC marriage document from 1956 shows Billy marrying Lois McDonald. It shows her age as 19 and Billy as 30.
Now to some speculation...
If you Google "Hydrick" one of the first to return is that of James Alan Hydrick. He was at one time named as America's best psychic, appearing on several television shows in the 1970s and early 1980s. I have not been able to find any genealogical information on him other than non-genealogical sources such as Wikipedia. Per Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hydrick, he was born on 28 Feb 1959 to Billie Hydrick and Lois Hydrick. Their ages were given as 36 and 13 at James' birth which I think might be family-lore since she and Billy were married in 1956, she would have been 10-11 years of age.
In 1982, a magician, Dan Korem, produced a film, Psychic Confession - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30o7_iy-O1g -on James Alan Hydrick showing him to be a fraud. In the film, Mr. Korem interviews his father, Billy, his mother, Lois, and an aunt, Bobbie Jean Ward. In the film, Lois (while smoking and drinking a Budweiser) laments to tears about leaving Blly (whom she described as a wife-beater) saying that after she left Billy, he married a woman named Mary. Lois said James Alan was 3 when she left Billy. Billy and Mary had a son in 1963 so this jives. In this time frame, Billy would have been about 36ish and Mary about 18ish.
Find A Grave does not list this family (Lois, James Alan, and at least three other children) nor does a search of Ancestry.com show any of them outside of the one marriage document of Billy and Lois McDonald. FindAGrave.com does show his wife as Mary Scott and a sister (or half-sister) as Bobby Jean who had been married to a Ward. This is all circumstantial speculation especially since some ages are off, however it would stand to reason that Billy Louie "Duke" Hydrick and Lois Unk maiden name were the parents of James Alan Hydrick. IF anyone reading this has other information, please let me know. ~DMH

Mrs. Mary Scott Hydrick, age 70, of Aiken, S.C., loving wife for 51 years to Billy Hydrick and daughter of the late James Scott and the late Margaret Sealy Scott, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 26, 2015.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
He was born on January 6, 1939 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Julius and Esther Hydrick. Being the son of a railroad man, he moved around early in life with his parents living in Birmingham, Columbus and Macon before settling in Columbus permanently in the mid 1940's. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1956 and started his college career at Mercer University before transferring to Auburn University in 1958, where he graduated with a degree in Marketing in 1961.
It was at Auburn that he met the love of his life, Ruth Stephens from Thomasville, GA, at the J&M Bookstore where he worked part time. It was a love that lasted for the rest of his life as they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February with family and friends.
After graduation, he began his career at Royal Crown Cola in the Marketing Department and began the rise to a senior leadership position working extensively on RC's branding at a local and national level. He also traveled across the country to consult with RC Cola Bottlers on all aspects of production and marketing.
While always interested in politics, his passion for community service began in 1963 when he and other young leaders stopped the vacant Springer Opera House from being demolished to build a parking garage. It was always a great point of pride of his when the Springer Opera House was added as a National Historic Landmark just fifteen years later in 1978.
One of his first ventures into politics was working with the Bo Callaway for Congress campaign, where he helped Bo become the first Republican elected to Congress from Georgia since Reconstruction. This win became the starting point for the modern day Republican Party in the State of Georgia.
It was during this time that he became good friends and a trusted confidante to J. R. Allen. Allen, Hydrick and others drafted the current city charter that voters approved in 1970 that made Columbus the first consolidated government in the State of Georgia. Allen was elected Mayor of Columbus that same year. However, when a tragic plane crash killed Mayor Allen and three others in February 1973, Bob, who was at the time chairman of the Muscogee County Republican Party, was approached to run in the Special Election to fill the remainder of Allen's term.
Despite a successful career at RC Cola and four young children, he realized to keep the progress going forward that had been started with Mayor Allen, he would need to run for Mayor. He won the Special Election and served as Mayor from 1973-1974. As Mayor, he continued the implementation of the Consolidation of Columbus and Muscogee County. He focused on lower property taxes, increasing Public Safety and bringing in Industrial Development to the city. He was instrumental in helping the previously named Medical Center, in getting major improvements as it was his goal to improve the lives of all the citizens of Columbus.
He often confided to a select few friends that he felt his greatest accomplishment was in getting Columbus connected to the Interstate Highway System. When Richard Nixon, running for re-election in 1972, asked Mr. Hydrick at a meeting with other Republican officials in Georgia what he could do for Columbus, he told the President Columbus was the largest city in the United States not on the Interstate System. President Nixon told him if he was re-elected, he would make sure it was done and Interstate 185 was completed in the fall of 1979.
After his term as Mayor ended in 1974, he opened his own Marketing and Management Company working with many local businesses such as First National Bank, Southern Foods, Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital, Kirven's Department Store and Kinnett Dairies where he secured Atlanta Braves star, Dale Murphy, as a spokesman. His commitment to improving the city continued as he served in numerous leadership positions.
He served in the Jaycees, where he was the 1970 Jaycees Man of the Year and was one of Jaycee's five Outstanding Young Men of Georgia, Rotary, President of Kiwanis, President of the PTA for both Clubview Elementary School and Hardaway High School, President of Peach Little League, President of the Iron Works Convention and Trade Center, Deacon at First Baptist Church, Boys Club of Columbus and Trees Columbus among numerous other boards and committees as well consulting with numerous political campaigns on a local, state, and federal level.
Despite being so committed to public service, family was always his number one priority. He coached his children's sports teams and never missed a game, dance recital or school event of his four children. He relished dinner time and the din of a large family around the dinner table, which he kept stoked with his great sense of humor. His other great joy was at the family's place in Destin, Florida with family and friends. He provided a role model as a father being a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years, first at First Baptist Church, then later at St. Luke Methodist Church. He took great pride in the lessons he presented and as his many class members can attest to over the years, it was an effort that was rewarded as the messages were always insightful and meaningful.
He is preceded in death by his father, Julius Hydrick, his mother Esther Hydrick and his half-brother Julius Hydrick Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Ruth Stephens Hydrick, his four children, Robert (Tammy), Stephen (Brenda), John (Meredith), and Susan Rinkowski (Greg), and four grandchildren whom he loved dearly Jackson, Caroline, Katherine, and Anna Brook Hydrick. The family would also like to thank Freda Brundidge, Mittie Thornton, and Sandra Thomas for their immense love and care for these past few years.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 2, 2022 at St. Luke Methodist Church at 11:00 am with Reverends Robert Beckum and Thad Haygood officiating. A private burial will follow the service. The family will greet visitors beginning at 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall behind the Sanctuary at St. Luke.
He lived his goal of leaving the world a better place than he found it.
General Notes: Husband - James Neirman "Nimon" Rogers
burial details unknown
James Neirman "Nimon" Rogers passed away peacefully at his home of almost sixty years, three days prior to his 99th birthday.
He was born on January 6, 1919 at his parents' home on S. Farish Street in Jackson, Mississippi. He was the third of eight children. He was named for his "Uncle Buck" Neirman Ballard, but his younger adoring siblings could not pronounce Neirman so they called him "Nimon" and the name stayed with him for life. Nimon was a 5th generation Rankin Countian on the Rogers' side. His parents were Ellen Viola Collins Rogers and Ernest Lazarus Rogers. He grew up attending Catholic schools, Cathedral in Natchez and Saint Joseph in Jackson. He served as an altar boy at Saint Mary's Basilica in Natchez and at Saint Peter's Cathedral in Jackson.
He was a successful businessman, having owned and operated Rogers Package Store in Jackson for many years.
Nimon loved nature and spent a great deal of his time outdoors, working on his ten acres in Pearl. He grew camellias, azaleas, coleus and other beautiful flowers and plants. He enjoyed watching the deer on his property and really loved the hummingbirds that came to visit.
Mr. Rogers was the eldest parishioner at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl for over 50 years. He was loyal to his church and he faithfully visited his younger sister, "Ernie", every Sunday after he attended mass.
Nimon and Phyllis loved to travel and over the years have visited 48 states of the United States and Canada.
He was a member of the greatest generation, serving four years in the United States Army and was in the Burma, India Theater during World War II.
He was an avid golfer and he played frequently at the former "NIKNAR" Country Club and Bay Pointe Country Club. He enjoyed making golfing trips to the Gulf Coast with his buddies. He was a sports enthusiast, always keeping up, and was a wealth of information regarding local high school, university and professional sports teams. He remembered enough sports trivia, including current sports news to write a book.
Nimon was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Byrdie Marie Hydrick, his sisters, Mildred Rose Eiland, Maggie Elizabeth Morgan, and Rosanna Rogers and brother Collis Joseph Rogers. He leaves his loving wife of 28 years, Phyllis Williams Rogers and children, Kenneth M. Goodrum (Pat) and Tonya Lynn Harris, grandchildren, Peyton Young, Sloane Young, Dustin Goodrum, and Aaron Jolly, as well as 6 great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Mary Ernestine Murray, brothers Lazarus Matthew Rogers, and Nolan Ray Rogers, his nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, Robert Praytor, Michael Praytor, Ellen Gilbert Russell, Sherry Rogers Downs, Pam Rogers, and Kim Rogers Wendland.
Visitation for Nimon will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, with the funeral mass following at 2:00 pm.
There are some date discrepancies:
I think that Evertte (Everette) and Eleanor were twins. The 1920 census shows a son and daughter, both aged 0. It was taken on 8th-9th of January, 1920 and Everett's death was on 16 January, 1920 after the census was taken and recorded. No information is found on Eleanor during that period...however,
Opal was born in 1922 thus is not enumerated on the 1920 census. She was enumerated on the 1930 census as being 8 years of age and also Elnor (Eleanor) was there as 10 years old.
I still work in Springfield commute twice a week come up wed leave on sat afternoon. While in Springfield I stay with my only child Elizabeth and her family son in law Ed and 2 grandchildren. Due keep in touch with some of the classmates that remained in Springfield. cannot believe it is almost forty years. Would love to hear from any and all.
Anne "Gee and GG" Hydrick Fox, 72, of Urbanna, VA, passed away in the peaceful, early morning hours of Sunday, November 6, 2016, after a long battle with leukemia.
Anne was born July 22, 1944 in Petersburg, VA, to Anne Branch Madison and Claude Kettle Hydrick. She grew up in Springfield, VA, where she attended elementary and middle school and Robert E. Lee High School. For more than 50 years, she served the community of Northern Virginia, touching the lives of innumerable people as an extraordinarily talented hair stylist.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Monk Vetock; son-in-law, Edward Vetock; her grandchildren: Nicole Vetock Bowie - wife of Ryan Bowie - and Brian Madison Vetock; great-granddaughter, Madison Elisabeth Bowie; and step-grandchildren: Carter and Sarah Fox. As one of four children, Anne is also survived by her sister, Josephine (Sweets) HydrickBrandes, and brothers: Claude (Cuddy) Hydrick Jr. and Lawton (Bo) Hydrick. Other survivors include her brother-in-law, Larry (Lar) Brandes; nephews: Peter Hydrick, Michael Brandes, and Christopher Hydrick; nieces: Kathleen (Kath) Brandes, Nancy (Nance) Brandes, Kimberly (Kimber) Brandes Ross, and Katie Hydrick; great-nieces: Kayla Brandes and Haylee Hydrick; and, a beautiful tapestry of long-time friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her lovely parents, Claude and Anne Hydrick; her wonderful husband, Jack B. Fox; and step-son Daniel (Dan) Fox.
While Anne was always extremely passionate about her work, nothing meant more to her than spending time with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as unwinding and entertaining at her home - Foxwood - in Urbanna. In addition, she thoroughly enjoyed relaxing at the beach, cooking & baking, gardening, jamming fruits & canning vegetables, listening to music, shopping, interior decorating (especially for the holidays), watching movies like some of her favorites: Ben Hur, Field of Dreams, Gone with the Wind, and Out of Africa, reading, collecting art work, in particular, P. Buckley Moss, laughing, and speaking out loudly, proudly, and with such conviction about all social issues. She was also a devout and long-time member of Christ Church in Saluda, VA.
Anne had a wonderful, larger-than-life personality, did everything with such finesse and perfection, and lived life with a style and passion all of her own. She had such an impact on everyone she met, and she was the fiercest woman, in the best way possible. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, November 13 at the Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Braddock Rd. in Fairfax, VA. Visitation hours will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
