Mr. Cecil Avan Rolland, age 93, of Forrest City, died Sunday at the Craighead Nursing Center in Jonesboro. He had been in poor health for the past several years.
Mr. Rolland was born November 10, 1921, in Vanndale, Arkansas, and was the son of Marel Rolland and Emma Arlene Hodges Rolland. He lived in Wynne until moving to Forrest City in 1953. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas, was an insurance agent for Jackson National Life and worked for Metropolitan Life for many years. He was a Veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, a member of the Life Underwriters Association, a member of the Ridgewood Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.
Mr. Rolland married Ivonette Crownover in 1947, and she preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by one daughter, Amy Rolland of Wynne, one son, Kim Rolland, and wife, Karen, of Widener, one sister, Kathleen Snellgrove of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, four grandchildren; David, Lisa, Kristin, and Dustin, and six great-grandchildren. He had one granddaughter, Lauren Rolland, four brothers; Robert, Gerald, Roger, and Harold, who all preceded him in death.
Services for Mr. Rolland will be held at the Ridgewood Baptist Church, 10:00 A.M., Friday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00 till 8:00 P.M., at Stevens Funeral Home with Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three sons, W. L. Hildebrand of Camden, Clyde Hildebrand of Bluff City and Loyce Hildebrand of Prescott; three daughters, Mrs. J. D. Starnes of Chidester, Mrs. D. E. Harvey of Bluff City and Mrs. Charlie Pruitt of Camden; two brothers, Lloyd Cummings of Prescott and Millard Cummings of Bluff City; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bluff City Church of Christ. Burial was at Bluff City Cemetery.

Taylor was born in Aiken, S.C. on November 26, 1990. He was a talented mechanic and genuinely loved to work with his hands. Taylor (Tay Tay), would stop what he was doing to help someone in need. His Mimi loved to hear his belly laughs, and we all loved that big ole smile that brought joy to our lives.

Funeral services for Chalmus Charles Cupit, 70, Monroe, were at 2 p.m. today at the First National Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro with the Rev. Leon Ivey officiating, assisted by the Rev. A. B. Graham.
Burial was in Crowville Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Cupit died early Sunday morning at St. Francis Hospital after a a brief illness.
He was a service station attendant and a native of Meadeville, Miss.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gurtha P. Cupit, 66, of Winnsboro were held at 2 p.m., August 29 in the Archibald Church of Christ with the Rev. Murphy Phillips Jr., and the Rev. J. W. Wright officiating. Interment was in Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro. She died on August 27.
Survivors include two sons, Huey Leon Taylor, Morton, Miss., and Charles M. Taylor, Baskin; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Kelly, Leesville, and Mrs. Annette Lee, Baskin, four brothers, Fellie Phillips, Archibald, Wayne Phillips, Baskin and Frelson Phillips and Cecil Phillips, both of Alexandria; two sisters, Mrs. Bertie Mae Dollar, Baskin and Mrs. Mary Belle Copeland, Alexandria; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Memaw was an incredible person, who greatly loved Jesus and her family. She has forever impacted the lives of her children and grandchildren, through her love and her example of an extraordinary Christian life.
Memaw was a one-of-a-kind lady who fixed fence for cattle in remote areas with a six gun on her hip, bailed hay, quilted, tanned deer hides and beaver pelts for her grandchildren, taught her grandchildren to drive vehicles and tractors, and helped her grandsons hunt the deer in her back yard. Memaw also was: skilled in electrical work, an expert in herbal medicine, and an excellent storyteller. She was a wonderful cook who was known for her homemade bread, cornbread, biscuits, and granny pie.
She showed us all what a well-worn Bible should look like. Most importantly, she spoke knowledgeably of Jesus and scripture. Not only did she have a deep understanding of scripture, but she also lived out her faith on a daily basis. She was a prayer warrior for her kids and grandkids, as well as for her extended family and friends. She carried burdens for each and took them before the throne of God.
Memaw will be missed, but her impact through a life well lived will remain, as seen in the way she has touched multiple generations through her incredibly strong faith and her selfless love for others. If Memaw could leave one message to this world, it would be to repent of your sins and to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior before making your passage into eternity Romans 10:9. Today could be that day, because we do not know when we will be called to meet our maker. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Curtis, Sr.; her parents, Virginia Pearl Gilenski Taylor, Powell Burnell Taylor, and step-mother, Margurite Taylor; brother, Powell Taylor; and sister, Edie Beasley.
She is survived by her sons, Marvin Curtis, Jr. (Faith) and Ronnie Curtis (Myra); her daughter, Elizabeth Carraway (David); grandchildren, Marvin Curtis, III, Aaron Curtis (Brandy), Johnathan Curtis (Holly), Kevin Curtis (Megan), Jeremiah Curtis, Caleb Curtis, David Carraway (Jodi), Joshua Carraway, and Amber Carraway: 10 great-grandchildren, and sister, Virginia Hole.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 4, 2020 at Cayuga Cemetery. Rev. Marvin Curtis is officiating.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Curtis, III, Aaron Curtis, Johnathan Curtis, Kevin Curtis, Jeremiah Curtis, David Carraway, Joshua Carraway, and Caleb Curtis.

Mrs. Musette Misner 89 of Wynne, AR, passed away Saturday (May 19 2007) in a Searcy hospital. Mrs. Misner was born Dicie Musette Misner on July 6, 1917, in Crawfordsville, AR. (Crittenden Co.) to the late Abner Byron Curtner and Ollie Belle Duke Leaptrot Curtner.
She retired from Entergy after 35 years service. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wynne. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She is preceded in death by her parents; Abner Byron Curtner and Ollie Belle Duke Leaptrot Curtner; her husband, Hal Stacy Misner; and 3 brothers, Jennings Byron "Bud" Curtner, Lee Roy Curtner and half brother Henry Smith Leaptrot. All of Wynne, Cross Co. AR.
She is survived by her daughter, Glen Stacy Misner Stroupe of Conway; 2 grandsons, Robert Stroupe of Faulkner Co., Hal Stroupe of Searcy, AR.; 4 great-grandchildren, Michelle, Allisyn, Jennifer and Joseph.

He was a World War II Veteran of the US Air Force, retired credit manager at Murray Chevrolet. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wynne.

He died of a heart attack at home Dec. 11, 1986. Survived by his wife and 1 son.

My (Rob Stroupe) Great Uncle but since my mom had no brothers or sisters and her father was dead he was like a Grandfather and Uncle to me. He served in WW2 and got shot by the Nazi's when the tracks on his tank were blown. His records burned in the St. Louis Archive fire but the family already had a copy of his Service Record which is in family possession.
He also retired as a mechanic for the Arkansas Highway Department. He died of a heart attack while in Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee while being treated for lung cancer.

James Easterling, 79 of Pascagoula, MS passed away Wednesday January 25, 2012.
He was born in Morton, MS December 30, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from First Chemical. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Mr. Easterling was a very loving husband to his wife of 57 years, Bobbie, and to his family, a man of his word to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter Debby Ann Burroughs, his parents Henry Thomas Easterling and Verna May Phillips Easterling, his loving brothers; Lloyd, Kennis, Douglas, Calley, Robert, Willard, and Buddy Easterling, 2 loving sisters; Ruth Easterling and Annie Ray Owens.
He leaves cherished memories to his wife Bobbie Easterling, granddaughter Stacy (DeWayne) Parker, great-grandson, Kodi Ezell (Brittany Cowart), a son in law, Kenny Burroughs, 2 wonderful sisters Betty Jean Garner and Shirley Bearden and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home beginning at 12:00pm with Rev. Tracy Martin officiating. Graveside services will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS is in charge of arrangements.

Dolores (Dodie) PattonMcSpadden, age 92, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, in Russellville.She was born in Little Rock, on March 5, 1932, the daughter of J.D. and Vernette Patton. She served for many years as the Financial Secretary for First United Methodist Church of Russellville. She was active in PEO, Russellville Junior Auxiliary, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Family Life Circle and the Carden Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, J.D. and Vernette Patton; she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William Neal McSpadden; a sister, Bobbye Clements of Waldron; a brother, Pat Patton of Lexington, Kentucky; and a grandson, Mikell McSpadden, Jr. of Alma.
She is survived by a daughter, Becky Smith and husband, Steve, of Russellville; a son, Mike McSpadden and wife, Malinda, of Alma; grandchildren, Stacy (Jack) Grobmeyer, Andrew (Brittany) Smith, Matthew (Katy) McSpadden; and Mason (Kiley) McSpadden; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver and angel, Tammy Lemarr.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Brad McAlister, Pam Craig, the staff of Legacy Heights and Shinn Funeral Service for all their care and compassion.A Celebration of Life for Bill and Dodie will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Russellville. On March 6, 1970, Jonita married Jimmie Darling and began making their home in Tuckerman. She balanced working along side her husband and raising her children with a great deal of enthusiasm. Jonita had a love of life and helping others. She was a past president of Newport Service League, providing clothing for children in need. She actively volunteered at her children's schools for many years. Her love of the outdoors and beauty led to her achieve a master gardener status. Jonita enjoyed making her home a place of beauty and comfort and place where all could feel welcome. Jonita was a member of Holden Avenue Church of Christ where she was actively involved in many ministries.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ray Reid, and sister, Fay Reid. She is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Jimmie Darling of Tuckerman; daughter Jamie Darling and husband Scott Shumate of Tuckerman; son Justin Nelson Darling and wife Kara of Little Rock; granddaughter Bowen Presley Darling of Little Rock; three sisters, Bonita Fields of Jonesboro, Allene Koettel of Searcy, and Wanda Simmons of Searcy; one brother, Henry Davis Reid, Sr. of Newport; special caregivers, June Sullivan and Bobbie Pulliam; host of other relatives and friends.
