We find the following obituary of Maj. Roberi Darragh, late of Sharon, this county, in the Somerset Herald of last week:
"On Sunday morning, July 21st, 1872, Hon Robert Darragh, of Bridgewater, Beaver county, Pa, breathed his [last]. Few purer and better men than Mr. Darragh were to be found on earth. He was not only an active living man, but a true Irish gentleman and faithful Christian Intelligent to the affairs, of life, sourcély any duty was overlooked; and almost to the last hour were his mental as well as his physical powers exerted to produce some good result

Mr. Darragh was born in Darraghstown, county Fermnaugh, Ireland, on the 23d of February,1776, and was consequently in his 97th year. He retained his mental and physical powers to the last in a remarkable degree. He came to the United States when a young man and settled in Beaver county, where he lived to the day of his death, honored and respected by all. For several years he represented the Beaver and Mercer Senatorial district in the State Senate with great acceptability. Politically he was a Whig" -personally he was an honest man.

cremated

The family of Sheila Mary Davenport Hildebrand sadly announce her passing July 31, 2017 at Savannah Hospice.

Sheila was born Feb. 5, 1927 in Niteroi, Brazil. Her parents Harry S. Davenport and Elsie Rowe Davenport, formerly from Lancashire, England, raised Sheila and her two sisters primarily in Niteroi across the Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro. Her young life was spent along these beautiful shores often sailing with family and friends. She attended secondary school there and unlike her older sisters, her further education in England was cut short by the outbreak of WWII.

In 1950 Sheila immigrated with her eldest son to the United States. She settled in Norfolk, Virginia and there raised her four children. After a career in the banking industry, she retired from Sun Trust Bank and moved to Savannah, Ga. to be closer to her family.

Her life ambition and devotion was lovingly centered on her family who hold dear memories of her fun-loving spirit, delight in family games and the laughter she brought to gatherings. Always up for an outing, Sheila eagerly travelled with family for adventures near and far.

Beyond her family, she was committed to the welfare of animals and even into her eighties would go wherever there was a need in feeding and caring for stray cats.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband Walter Hildebrand, sisters Barbara Ambrose, Margaret Holman and Ann Davenport and her dear cat Freddie.

She is survived by her children: Richard Guerreiro (Susie), Christine McDermott (Jack), Tracy Hildebrand (Stewart Stokes) and Walter Hildebrand. Her grandchildren by whom she was affectionately called She She: Katie Downing (Pat), Callan McDermott (Jimmy) and Emily Stokes and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 4 at 2pm at Richmond Hill Funeral Home, 8901 Ford Avenue, in Richmond Hill, Ga

D/O Peter and Susan Anderson Shaver. Wed Charles C. Davis August 8, 1819 in Fulton County, Arkansas.

No stone found or is illegilbe. So sorry Granny. I tried to find you. I am sure you are buried close to your daughter, Amelia Davis Helms.

About 2 1/2 miles west of Seymour, Missouri on Highway 60 you will come to a road on the left that goes across the railroad tracks. This road is called Box Schoolhouse Loop. It curves to the west. About 1/2 mile down this road is a white stucco house on the right. There is a farm across the road from this house and a gate to the right of the west fenceline of that farm. This is on the south side of Box Loop. Follow along the west side of the west fenceline to a grove of trees and you will find the cemetery. Make sure the gate is closed as this is a dairy farm. Another option: You can go west another 1/2 mile on Box School Loop and come to the Bob Cook Dairy farmhouse on the left. They can show you how to get to the cemetery.

History has it that Mathias Davis was killed shortly before the Civil War started during an arguement about the war. Mathias was supposedly buried on the spot that he fell on. No stone known of or location, just close to Orla Bridge and Orla Mill in Laclede Co, Mo. Mathias was my great great grandfather. S/O Charles Crow Davis and Cynthia Shaver Davis, and father of James Newton Davis, my grandmother, Nancy Davis Brown's father. Matthias married Mary Young who was the daughter of Hiram Young.

Orla was west of central in Franklin Township; a post-office since 1886. Originally called Ball's Mill (q.v.), for an old Tennessean who built a mill there. He gave the post-office the name Orla for one of his sons. Later Ball killed a man and leaving his clothes on the bank of the Osage, disappeared. Years later he came back to the community and died there. Very rough, wild country. Also spelled Orle, Orley. (--Place Names.) There was a post-office at Orla in 1901-1902, as listed in Missouri Manual, for those years, on page 389.

Matthias M. Davis was born March 16, 1829 in Randolph Co., Arkansas and died December 8, 1859 on the north bank of the Osage Fork River near the Orla bridge in Laclede Co., Missouri. He married Mary "Polly" Young in Wright Co., Missouri. He was the son of Charles Crow Davis and Cynthia Shaver.

Legend seems to accuse mill owner Henry Ball as the person who killed Matthias Davis in 1859. However, Ball and his family are on the 1850 and 1860 censuses in Scioto County, Ohio (see census info in his memorial 23596386). He came to Laclede County after the war, around 1867, and built the first mill at Orla. Ball and his family are on the 1870 census in Laclede County; he died in 1874.

James M. "Doc" Davis has a large Woodsmen of the World Stone.

Pounder/Warrick Cemetery is located in Desha County, Arkansas off of Hway 4 (McGehee/Monticello Rd) two miles northwest of Bayou Bartholomew Bridge on the Old Albert Rogers Farm which is presently the Powell Farm. This is a very old cemetery. Most of the stones are down and part of the cemetery has caved into the bayou. A black walnut stump marks the spot where the old Warrick Chapel once stood. This was used as a church gathering place for people from miles around.

According to census information James M. Davis was born Dec. 18, 1855 and that is different to the date on his grave stone.
