Mr. and Mrs. John Devers are mighty well pleased since the message they received Saturday announcing the birth of a six and onehalf pound daughter born to their son and wife at Pittsburg. She has been named Carrol, This makes Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Wingert of Blue Mound and Mrs. Josie Devers great grandparents.

Carol Jean Devers Sadler, of Warrensburg, Missouri. My grandmother. When she took the GRE, she achieved the highest score of any student at Central Missouri State University up till that time. She loved traditional church music, bridge, and the public library; made wonderful afghans and mashed potatoes with cheese on top; read mystery novels and literary fiction; and taught me to play Scrabble and, with my mother, to be proud of being an intellectual woman. She died of breast cancer in 2003, and her daughter and granddaughters have Raced for the Cure every year since.

Philip "Bud" Sadler. My uncle, long and lean, with shaggy blonde hair that sometimes fell into his face and an immense fondness for Bruce Springsteen. He went into typewriter repair in the late 1970s, and the times sadly got away from him; but I remember his wide smile and easy laugh, and his delight at corny comedies or when the Chiefs made a great play.

Grandfield Resident To Mark 100th Birthday By TRUDI PERKINS" Uncle Richard " Dicken of Grandfield will celebrate his 100th birthday anniversary next Tuesday Nov. 16; but a special observance is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 14, when family and friends plan to gather at the Grandfield Community Center for the birthday dinner, topped by the traditional, special cake. Next Tuesday, if the weather is right and Uncle Richard is feeling up to his usual agile self, it's possible that he will complete his annual fall yardwork of raking and cleaning the grounds at his home in Grandfield, where he has lived for almost half a century. Whatever he does, Dicken will be accompanied by his small dog, Tiny, who is his constant companion and Uncle Richard's" ears. " Dicken doesn't hear too well, but Tiny does and barks to let his master know a visitor is knocking at the door, or approaching on the grounds. Dicken has felt a bit under the weather the past few days and for the first time in many years has had someone to come in and spend the night. His step - grandson, Bill Potts of Grandfield, has stayed with the centurian at night for the past week,

Collected Records of Frieden's Lutheran & Reformed Church Branch Township and St. John's Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Church Friedensburg, Closson Press 1998 lists Jacob Schafer, pg 146, with a death date of 01 Jul 1847 (no DOB). [info from user 48895586 - Mosslady]
His burial record is found in the St. Paul's Church records which covered burials in many of the local cemeteries. He had apparently been a member of St. John's in Friedensburg, Wayne Township, at some point as at least two of his children (Japhet & Frederick) were Christened there.
His last name is spelled in many different ways in his probate records including Shaefer, Shaeffer, Shafer, and Schaeffer. His interment record at St. Paul's spells it Schaefer. Schaeffer seems to be the more customary spelling of this last name, notwithstanding the many versions in his records.
His Schuylkill County probate records list heirs as follows (using the record's spellings):
1. John Shaeffer
2. Michael Shaeffer
3. Enoch Shaeffer
4. Japhet Shaeffer

Collected Records of Frieden's Lutheran & Reformed Church Branch Township and St. John's Evangelical Lutheran and Reformed Church Friedensburg, Closson Press 1998 indicates Enoch Schaeffer, pg 150, DOD 28 Aug 1866, age 70y 1m [from user 48895586 - Mosslady]
It appears he died at the Schuylkill County Poorhouse in North Manheim Twp, but he is not buried at their cemetery since there is an expense in his probate records for transporting his body from the Poorhouse. St. John's in Friedensburg is also where other members of his family are buried.
Enoch shows as age 50 in the 1850 census for Wayne Twp, Schuylkill County along with wife Maria (age 51) and likely daughter Deana (age 20). Three other Sheafer families are next to him: George, Jacob, and William, all of ages where they could be his sons. His 1866 probate records indicate payments to attorneys for litigation in Perry County, and there is an 1860 census record for an Enoch Sheaffer, age 60, in Perry County as well as an 1860 conviction in Perry Co. for larceny for Enoch Shafer (listing him as a widower) which are likely him.

(PERSONAL NOTE: Penna is another of the ladies who is deep into the Hydrick genealogy research. She doesn't claim it, but I consider her our "DNA Guru". She tries to explain it to me but my brain seems to reject anything containing "DNA"!! She has been a tremendous help to our research.) -DMH

email from Penna 6/30/2021:
Hi Denny. Hope all is well.
The Hydrick origins came back as Russia, Sweden, England, Spain, Ireland, Barbados and Argentina. Typing from memory so I hope I didn't forget any.
The Hydrick line originated from the area around the Black Sea. Family Tree DNA group Armenians was matched to us. I joined but the admin is Russian so we had difficulty communicating. Lol
I know this is difficult to believe. I had quite a surprise myself.
The Gittens (and there are various spellings in the U.S.) are the Barbados match. Our closest match through the origins.
I can't help but think that Mary Polly was the Hydrick.
Our land in Arkansas where present day Hydrick, Arkansas is located begins with a Choctaw Land Script.
A Choctaw widow with 3 children...sound familiar? I thought so. Her name is Ha To Na. I found her listed in the treaty, I believe through Google Books.
My father told me back in the 70s that our line has Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee. I've always kept that in mind.
I downloaded my raw DNA from Ancestry and uploaded to My Heritage (free) and noticed a change in ethnicity. My Heritage is associated with Family Tree DNA.
But they have a world map on there that's shaded where you match someone. This has been very helpful. I've noticed some very strange areas shadowed that was before Europeans were there. I suggest you do it.
My father also told me about my mother's line and the Native American blood. I can confirm through my mitochondrial DNA (full sequence) that it's true.
I've discovered that an ancestor's family was stolen by the Cherokees in early Tennessee at Fort Gillespie. It was this ancestor, Thomas Glass, known as 'The Glass' signed the Treaty giving the last of the Cherokee's land in Tennessee to the United States. It took months of research to discover this. In the first generation of the Glass line outside of the control of the Cherokee's, was a son born given the name of a president. I think about George Washington Hydrick and how this may be a similar situation. The year corresponds when Hydrick land was cleared from the Choctaws.
See land documents through BLM. Here's the link: <https://glorecords.blm.gov/search/default.aspx>
There were Gittens that were Choctaw sent to Oklahoma.
Their name has some far-fetched spellings but they were in Mississippi and Arkansas. Extremely hard to find them. Also Tennessee and North Carolina with ties to South Carolina.
That's about where I'm at in research.
I do have World Ancestry so I'm able to search records overseas.
PS....the Johann Peter Heydrick lines have a group on Family Tree DNA. We do not match. They used an alternative spelling of Hedrick. I confirmed this through paperwork when he first arrived in Philadelphia.

I also talked to "Buddy Hydrick" he is the son of Herman H. Hydrick and Annis Keller Hydrick, brother to Mildred. His name is Jackson William Hydrick; I asked because all I had ever heard was Buddy and his sister told me it was William Jackson. So now I know for sure that it is Jackson William Hydrick. He was named for his grandfathers, one Andrew Jackson and the other William Keller; Got that from the Horse's Mouth so maybe that is correct
