Mr. Smith, a native of Crystal Springs had been a resident of Slidell for the past 36 years. He was a retired Steel Heat Treater for Martin Marietta and a member of UAW Local No. 1921 N. O. LA. He was a member of Crystal Springs Lodge No. 432 F & A. M. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slidell for 36 years.
A Masonic Service was 6 p.m. August 31 from Honaker Funeral Home. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Septermber 1 at First Baptist Church, Slidell, La., with Dr. Michael Claunch, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Survivors are a son, Joel A. Smith of Slidell; daughters, Janice S. Curry and Gale S. Loner, both of Oxford, Miss., and Sue S. Fogg of Pearl River, La.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

HOODSPORT, Wash. - Mrs. Camilla Ruth Trimble, 80, of Hoodsport, Wash, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1996. A memorial service will be held at Concord Primitive Baptist church, near Roanoke, when arrangements have been made.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley James Trimble of Hoodsport; three grandchildren, Dianna Lynn Stewart of LaGrange, Ga., Richard Wayne Helderbrand of Conyer, Ga. and Jackie Shute of Jackson, Miss; a sister, Evar Mae Sides of Langdale; two brothers, Clinton C. Smith of Lake Placid, Fla., and Herbert H. Smith of Lanett; five great grandchildren; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Trimble was born April 24, 1916 at New Hope in Chambers County, the third child of Thomas M. and Mattie Carpenter Smith. She had one son, Larry Wayne Helderbrand, deceased, who was born and reared in Langdale.She moved to Langdale in 1944 and settled at New Hope Landing near Stockton, Calif., where she owned and operated an RV Park. She retired to Hoodsport in 1968.

William Snider was the son of Jacob Snider Jr, grandson of Hans Jacob Schneider, who immigrated from Germany in 1744. William Snider's tombstone is located on the property his father Jacob Jr received and memorialized on the 29th day of Sept, 1772. Originally there were four other graves near William Snider's grave site. Two of these were probably William's father Jacob and his wife, Mary.
William Snider, son of Jacob Snider Jr., was born in August 1770, probably at the Schneider plantation in the Congarees, now Lexington County SC. Jacob Snider Jr. moved to St. Matthew's Parish (near present-day Elloree) in 1771.
William Snider inherited his father's 200 acres in St. Matthew's Parish and had it surveyed in 1802. At that time, it was recorded as 234 acres, bounded by lands of Henry Felkel, John Wilson, Jacob Hungerpiller and Jacob Snider. This Jacob Snider was William's brother and the father of Obanyan Jacob Snider. William died 29th April 1833 and is buried in the Midway community across the road from the home of George Cuttino.
William Snider married Elizabeth Wade, daughter of John Wade. She was born on Abt. 1764 in South Carolina, USA. Her death on 12 Sep 1868 in Cameron, Calhoun, South Carolina. She is buried in the Jericho Methodist Church Cemetery, Jericho Road, Cameron SC. FAG MEMORIAL ID 67446423

The Orangeburg News 26 Sept 1868 reported that "Mrs. Elizabeth Snider A highly esteemed lady of this District, died on the 12th at the extraordinary age of one hundred and four years".

Hugh "Cotton" Ellis Stephens, 86, of Tulsa, left this life June 1, 2005. "Cotton", one of 13 children, was born November 20, 1918 in Yonkers, Oklahoma to Emery and Maude (Wilson) Stephens.
"Cotton" owned Hugh Stephens Construction Company for many years and was a member of the Home Builders Association.
Survived By his loving wife; three children; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Clayton James Stephens and great-grandson Brent Michael Morrow.
Graveside service was held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 3, 2005, Vernon Cemetery, Coweta, OK.

Viola Virginia Harper, 92, passed away at Saint Francis Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 21, 2022. She was born April 15, 1929, in Wagoner, Oklahoma to David Emery Stephens, and Maude Elizabeth (Wilson) Stephens.
On January 25, 1946, she married Raymond Lloyd Harper. Viola worked at Craig General Hospital and Eastern State Hospital for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, caring for the yard, and cleaning everything from the house to the car. Viola enjoyed fishing and eating fish. Her favorite fish to eat was catfish. She enjoyed dancing, especially the jitterbug. After retirement she loved babysitting young children. Most of all she loved cooking and caring for her family. She loved each one of them and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Preceding Mrs. Harper in death are her parents, and ten siblings, also one granddaughter, Candace Jackson.
Survivors include her children, Joyce Garber, of Langley, Oklahoma, Rick Harper, and wife Bobbie, of Hulbert, Oklahoma, Rita Harper of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Harper, and wife Francis, of Pryor, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Sands, Tiffany McClellan, Lacy Harper, Amber Jinks, Mandelyn Hurley, Van McClellan, Dustin Harper: nine great grandchildren; special friends, Donna Wofford, Kristi and Kyle Fritz and their children Kelby and Kaden; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A visitation for Mrs. Harper will be held from 5:00 p.m., to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Luginbuel Chapel at 2:00 p.m.

Willie Leon Summerville of North Little Rock died Saturday, Nov. 1, 1997. He was 70. He was a retired short-order cook.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Summerville; two sons, Willie Leon Summerville Jr. of Texas and Tommy Summerville of North Little Rock; four daughters, Diana Jackson, Patsy Jean Atkinson and Sherry Maddox, all of Little Rock, and Peggy Summerville of North Little Rock; one brother, Henry Summerville of Alexander; seven-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 1997, at the Ashby Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Traskwood Cemetery.

Doris Taylor, 89, passed from this life Thursday, September 21, 2017 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, September 23, 2017, in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Edwards.
Doris was a long-time member of the Cayuga Methodist Church. A retired LPN, she worked for more than 20 years at the Boswell Regional Center. A loving mother and grandmother, her family was her life, and she delighted in spending time with them.
Survivors include sons, John R. Taylor, Jr. (Jill), Larry W. Taylor (Jean), and David M. Taylor (Sonya); sister, Maxine Boldebook (Clyde); brother, Benard E. Strong (Louise); 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dawn Taylor.

Mary Elaine Summers, age 75, passed away on March 17, 2023 in Pass Christian, MS. She was born in Delhi, Louisiana to parents, Melvin E. Wagnon and Alice M. Roberts Wagnon, and was a long time resident of Gulfport.
She previously worked as a legal secretary, and enjoyed going to church and the beach, reading, and word searches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Paul Summers; daughter, Kimberly Hancock; brother, Melvin Wagnon; and her parents.
Left behind to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Tina Dawes and Alicia Hopkins; brothers, James Wagnon and Steve Wagnon; eight grandchildren, Sarah Gagnon, Ashley Dawes, David Dawes, Kayla Liner, Alyssa Hopkins, Harry Hopkins; and three great-grandchildren, Jasmine Gagnon, Andrew Gagnon and JoAnn Gagnon.
Visitation will be 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport. Interment is at Wolf River Cemetery.

Alvin J. Summitt Was born in Greenburg, Ind. His family lived on a farm and he didn't like it. He wanted to work on the railroad so he left home when he was 16. His family were very unhappy about his leaving.,
He was a big man 6ft 2in and weighted 220 pounds when he got married. He was blond, blue eyed broad shouldered and good looking. He loved boxing and was a good friend of the famous boxer, John L. Sullivan, who often came to his house.
He met Mamie Cochron while he was a brakeman on the Old Cotton Belt Railroad, in Mattoon, Il. Her parents ran a restaurant and inn for railroaders. It was called the Dole House. Alvin and Mamie married and moved around a lot. He always worked and made good money but he drank a lot when he was young and it made life hard for Mamie and the children .
After he was about fifty he stopped drinking. Alvin died in 1945 from throat cancer. Alvin and Mamie had six children.

Funeral services for Sarah Lou Wright Whittington will be on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS at 2:30 PM with burial to follow in the Crystal Spring City Cemetery in Crystal Springs, MS. Bro. Van Windom, Bro. Jimmy Bryant and Bro. David Patterson will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Highland Baptist Church on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Sunday, September 18, 2016, from 1:00 until 2:30 PM.
Mrs. Whittington, 89, passed from this life on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Copiah Living Center in Crystal Springs, MS. She was born on October 22, 1926, in Crystal Springs, MS, to Floyd B. and Lula Bell Stone Wright. She was a charter member of Highland Baptist Church in Crystal Springs, MS. She worked for many years as a Quality Control Specialist at Crystal Springs Shirt Factory and then worked for over 35 years in childcare, where the children called her "Granny Whit". She enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Floyd B. and Lula Bell Stone Wright; husband, Roy Whittington; son, William Floyd Whittington; brother, Barnett J. Wright; and grandson, Preston Carlock.
Survivors are her sons, Kenneth Whittington and wife Doris, James Whittington and wife Pam, and Gerald Whittington and wife Pam all of Crystal Springs, MS; daughter-in-law, Rachel Ann Whittington of Crystal Springs, MS; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Pallbearers are Jason Whittington, Brad Whittington, Justin Whittington, Andrew Presson, Barrett Whittington, Matthew Whittington, Chris Barrett and Josh McNair. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Merritt, Bruce Knight, Jared Whittington, Cameron Carlock, Trey Bass, Blake Whittington, Tristin Knight, Braydon McNair and Dallas Barrett.
Brookhaven Funeral Home handled arrangements.

KATHRYN MARIE TRICE WILSON Kathryn Wilson, 95, was born March 12, 1922 in Lamesa, Texas to Ralph Owen and Maybell Brown Trice. She passed away in Edmond Oklahoma on March 12, 2017, and had previously lived in Hobbs for over 80 years.
She is survived by her brother, Donald Trice (Jal), Sister-in-laws, JoBeth Trice (Jal) and Betty Trice (Clovis), daughter, Venita Wilson Copeland, son-in law, Thomas Copeland (Edmond, Ok), son, Ralph Wilson and his wife, Anna (San Saba, Tx.), grandchildren, Mia Russell and her husband, George (Oklahoma City), Kevin Wilson and his wife, Robin, (Portsmouth, Va), Kim and Michael Wilson, (Virginia), Josh Wilson, (Hobbs) Leigh Anna Moore and husband, Robert, (Austin, Tx), Ted Lucas, Greg Lucas and Brett Lucas, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph O. Trice and Maybell Brown Trice, her son Everett Wilson, her husbands, Charley Wilson, Ray Rodriquez, five brothers and sisters, including Murrell Cooper (Hobbs), Ralph J.Trice (Hobbs), Barbara Wilder (Denver City, Tx.) Calvin R. Trice (Clovis), and Mildred Greer (Albuquerque), and her grandson, Shawn Wilson (Houston, Tx.)
To all her grandchildren she was known as Nana. Among family, she was fondly called Kak. She was a devoted sister, mom, wife, and grandmother, and loved her family. Kathryn was a 60-year breast cancer. She conquered cancer with great and stood as a proud example for others to follow. Many remember the decades that she was checker at Ellison's grocery and Tootie's Supermarket where patrons remarked that she never made a mistake on their grocery bill and she greeted everyone with a smile and warm laughter. Growing up during the Great Depression taught her the value of a good bargain, so one of her hobbies included garage sales where she looked for her treasure of the day. She touched everyone's life she came in contact with and will serve as one of God's most treasured angels.
Kathryn held great love and pride for all her children and grandchildren and encouraged them to pursue their dreams and ambitions with all they have, and she was an inspiration all who knew her. With Kathryn's passing from this life, we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we miss her every day, especially that big loving smile, she will remain in our hearts forever as we cherish the memories.
Memorial and burial services are pending with Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, New Mexico with tentative scheduling in April.

Chesapeake - Everett Lynn Wilson, 76, went to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Thursday, May 7, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith; mother, Kathryn; brother, Ralph; sister, Venita; children, Michael, Kim and Rev. Kevin; grandchildren, Tony, Ashley, Josh, Cody and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Tieryn, Jonathon, Ryland, Tripp, Jayden, Annaliese and Phillip.
He was born in Hobbs, New Mexico on October 20, 1938. He graduated from Hobbs High and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and ultimately served in the capacity of hospital administration. He was commissioned and served a tour in Vietnam. He made the rank of Captain and assumed command of the Naval Hospital at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland. He retired in 1989. He was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church where his devoted son, Rev. Kevin Wilson, serves as pastor. He supported his church with his presence, service and finances.
He was a very kind-hearted man to both man and beast, who believed that life was about helping others, being good to and caring for one's family and honoring God. He loved his family, friends and golf. He was a stable, dependable, faithful father and husband and an excellent provider. He believed you had to be stern at times, yet always fair and compassionate. He was a great mentor and instilled in his children and grandchildren the quality of taking care of and honoring ones responsibilities as well as the value of hard work and education.
A celebration of his life and visitation service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, from 7-8:30 pm at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. The funeral will be the next day, Thursday, at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
