Walter Laroy Stacy was born 31 March 1917 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, the fourth son of George Washington, Sr. and Ida Greenwood Stacy. He grew up with four brothers: George W., Jr.; Herschel; Earl and James; and four sisters: Rhea; Irene; Odena and Wyona.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was at Great Lakes, Illinois in 1941. He was aboard the USS LEXINGTON, along with his brother, James, when it was sunk in the battle of the Coral Sea. They did not know each other was aboard until reviewing survivor lists while recovering in a hospital. Fifty enemy planes attacked the Lexington (about 8 May) and were able to register four torpedo hits and two bulls-eyes with bombs, plus a lot of misses. The ship was still afloat; her fires had been controlled and she was traveling under her own power before the crew was ordered to abandon ship. U.S. destroyers finally sent her to the bottom. While ablaze internally, many of her planes returned, refueled and took off again.
Walter married Vivian Green 16 August 1942 and they were the parents of two children, Tommy and Diane.Walter Laroy Stacy died 6 May 1978 in Marked Tree, Arkansas and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Arkansas

Obituary
Edwin Lewis Greenwood, "Buddy" entered into eternal rest on September 7, 2014. "Buddy," "Grandad," "Dad" and "Ed" was a generous, loving and modest son, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, photography, movies, classical music, rock collecting, bird watching, reading, woodworking, yard work and sitting around a fire. He freely shared these passions as a teacher, a family member and a friend.
"Buddy" was born on January 13, 1935 in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas to Raymond Roy Greenwood and Nell Gresham Greenwood. He attended Hickory Ridge School and graduated in 1955. While attending Hickory Ridge School he was active on the student council, band, art club and football. "Buddy" attended Arkansas State College and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1959.
Like other Greenwoods, he was drawn to the teaching profession and touched many students' lives as a junior high school art and math teacher for over thirty years. As an artist he worked in varying mediums demonstrating his ability to diversify his artistic talents. Even after retiring "Buddy" continued to enter local art competitions with works displaying his respect for the local landscape and the outdoors. "Ed" was active in the Northeast Arkansas Visual Arts League for many years and contributed art to several exhibits. Although his artistic style was typically more traditional he also demonstrated expertise in more modern genres, which included crafting clay and wood into complex and attractive structures.
"Buddy" now walks along a road that, "lead[s] away from towns...where [his] spirit is free; where the walls and fences are not cared for; where your head is more in heaven than your feet are on earth," (Thoreau).

Per converstion with Jack Hydrick 8/21/1994: "Uncle George" Stacy was old time bootlegger. Dad was in George's barn and asked what the hundreds of 5 gallon tin cans were for. Uncle George told him to open and smell one - corn whiskey. Told Dad the name "rockin' chair" whiskey came from booze kept in wooded kegs which had been charred inside. The kegs were suspended to bottom of rocking chairs. The rocking motion smoothed the taste.

Ramona Herald
March 22, 1935
John P. Greenwood was born in Cross County, Arkansas, February 26, 1871. He was the son of Thomas P. and Katherine O. Greenwood, who passed away here some 30 years ago.
Mr. Greenwood died at his home in Ramona, March 21, 1935, in the 65th year of his life.
At the age of 14 he migrated with his parents from Arkansas to near Elk City, Kansas, where the family lived until 1885 when they trailed their herds to a place near Ramona. Here the young pioneer cowman met and wedded Miss May Tyler, August 8, 1893. To this union were born seven children, all of whom survive.
They are J. M (Bud), Lester and J. B. of Ramona, Dwight P. of Alden, Kansas, Mrs. Clyde Robbius of Claremore, Mrs. Lelia Fisher and Mrs. Juanita Tyler of Ramona. There are also seven grandchildren. The brothers of Mr. Greenwood who still live are J. L. of Oklahoma City, C. M. of San Juan, Texas and D. H. of Mannford, Oklahoma.
The funeral will be held at the Baptist Church here Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Judge J. R. Charlton will officiate, assisted by Rev. Gurley of the local church.
In the passing of John Greenwood, Oklahoma looses one of her greatest pioneers this county that this county has long considered one of the most useful. Many people have been helped by this good neighbor. Ramona owes much to his progressive spirit and his firm faith in the ultimate success of his home people.
He was a sincere believer in the religion as taught and practiced by his Savior. He was greatly concerned over the chaotic condition of America attributing our hardships to unbelief and disobedience to God's unchangeable laws. "Unless we get back to old time religion, we are deemed as a nation', is an exact quotation from a conversation of a few months ago.
John Greenwood is not dead. His kindness and loyalty will be remembered by his friends so long as they live, the influence of his life will be felt for many years. There was no finer, kinder, manlier man.
Farewell John P. Greenwood - forever and forever - Farewell.
March 22, 1935

J. P. Greenwood, whose name introduces this review, spent the days of his boyhood and youth under the parental roof and he and his father were partners in business for a number of years before the latter's death, J. P. Greenwood looking after their interests and promoting their financial success. He and his father "made the run" into old Oklahoma when it was opened for settlement but did not become interested at that time, because they did not like the country. Since coming with his parents to this state Mr. Greenwood has lived within a radius of ten miles of his present home. He now resides eight miles northeast of Ramona on Rural Route No. 1 and in School District No. 16. He is the owner of six hundred and forty acres of land at this place and he also owns another tract of nine hundred acres, near Ramona. He raises wheat, oats, alfalfa and hogs, of which he has about one hundred and seventy-five head, while his cattle number four hundred and fifty head. On his home farm he has a beautiful modern bungalow and splendid large barns and other buildings furnishing adequate shelter for grain and stock. The buildings are located among a beautiful grove of oaks, pecans and black walnut trees, on a hill overlooking the surrounding country. On the farm are two beautiful lakes which Mr. Greenwood rents as duck preserves to a Bartlesville club called the Greenwood Country Club. A spirit of enterprise and progress actuates him in all that he undertakes in connection with the development and cultivation of his farms. The improvements on his home place cost over twelve thousand dollars and his is one of the excellent farm properties of this section of the state. There is also oil on the farm but only a small portion of the land has been developed.
In August, 1893, Mr. Greenwood was married to Miss May B. Tyner, a daughter of Reuben R. and Elmira Virginia (Irons) Tyner. The former passed away twenty years ago. The mother is seventy-one years of age and is making her home with a daughter on her farm, just south of Ochelata. Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood have become the parents of seven children: Marvin, twenty-seven years of age, is engaged in farming three miles northwest of Ramona. He married Eva Jane Oldham, by whom he has one child, John Richard; Ola Clyde is the wife of H. V. Lowe, a prominent business man and representative citizen of Ramona, serving as a director of one of the local banks of the city and the owner of four fine brick buildings on the leading corners of Ramona; Lelia became the wife of William Robert Fisher in July, 1918, and they have one child, Ruth Greenwood; Dwight Paul, seventeen years of age, is attending school; Lester, aged fifteen; James Barton, ten years of age, and Juanita Marian, are all attending school. The family is widely and prominently known through its social connections and Mr. Greenwood ranks as one of the leading and representative agriculturists and stock raisers of Washington County. He is President of the Citizens State Bank, which he and his brother organized. Moreover, he has spent the greater part of his life in this County and has ever been an interested witness and an active participant in those events which have done most to shape the progress and advance the welfare and prosperity of this part of the state.
